I took offense

So yesterday we invited a friend "Uncle" over. He comes and washes his laundry about once a week. The kids love him. Chaka and him hang out all the time, they have known each other for many many years.

Normal hang out kinda vibe.

I mention that we are done with Christmas shopping. I also state the kids really don't want anything.

Friend makes a comment " yeah, cause you buy them everything"

And today, I can't stop thinking about it.

I am truly offended, especially that a remark would be made like that. Why would he think that? Jealous? Not sure but WHY????

I really want to ask him today, I mean he was drinking. Maybe the alcohol and the fact Chaka and I have a good relationship????

Hmmmmm

Now don't get me wrong. Our kids are very blessed. They have more than some and less than others.

But they are also very giving. They understand that some kids don't have the things they do. They understand that they need to share what they have.

They aren't materialistic. They wouldn't even notice if I gave some toys away. Is that because they have too much, or  because they aren't attached to "things"???

I love them and of course as a parent we want to give our kids the best. I can't help if we are financially in a better place than others. We donate, buy for others, and share everything we have. I have allowed others to stay with us when they had nowhere else to go. I have bought people things if I thought they truly needed it.

I am just offended that said friend would just make those type of comments. So now, ignore or confront??

They are my heart. I will provide them with everything I can. That is my job as their parent.

Why so mean

In today's world of social media, the thing I find most upsetting is that fact WE are so mean.

We insult

We make fun of

We degrade

and all behind a computer screen or cellphone.

When and why has this become the norm, the acceptable?

I get so tired of logging in to catch up and check on friends or family, just to get completely irritated by a post that I bet the person would never say to anyone's face.

It makes my so sad to think that grown people think this is ok, that they can say mean and hurtful things all because "it's our right".

Yes I agree with freedom of speech, and if you have something to say……. well say it. Just why not do it in a construct way. If you want to make a change, make a positive one.

A couple of weeks ago there was a story about a lady (forget the town or state) that wanted to pass out notes to fat kids on Halloween.

HMMMMMMMMM

Yeah first, fat kids know they are fat. If you don't think they do, your wrong. They simply have to wake up and they are reminded "I'M FAT".

Fat kids go to school and yes they know they are "THE FAT ONE".

So passing out notes to tell them this is, well for lack of a better word, STUPID.

If you want to help them, offer to train them for free. Offer free nutrition advice to their parents. (well since the parents are probably the root of the problem anyway)

Offer to take them hiking, buy them a bike or skates or a trampoline. Do something positive.

And if you aren't, well then SHUT UP!

Attacking someone's self esteem, which I am sure is already the lowest of lows, isn't going to help. It will more than likely just add to the issue and create more problems.

My point today is, why so mean??? Why not take what you see as an issue and use all that energy you spend on it and use it for the GOOD of us all.

This wonderful country of ours can be put back together when we start behaving like we are in it together.
I run, not fast…… not pretty, but I run!

My heart is full

Being away from my WV is so hard, I truly miss them more and more the older I get. Throw in the fact my dad has health issues and it is so straining sometimes.

I have met many people in the Navy that have become more than friends to me.

Cynthia, Norma, Andrea, Frederic and Luis......you are more than friends. You are family, you are our hearts. I have never met a family who does anything they can for anyone at anytime.....and you never ask for anything. If I had a million dollars I would make all your dreams come true. My kids love you so much. When you guys are around I can just feel joy! You guys make my heart sing!!!!

Faeth, or Ciena as others call you!!! Your an amazing friend! You are always there to inspire me and push me to do more!!! You make me laugh!!!! Love you girl!!!

I hate my...............

I hate my...........

Well don't we all look in the mirror and think that.......

Me I hate my nose, I really feel like it grows overnight. I swear there is no miracle grow on it......or maybe when I watered my plants some rubbed off..........oh good LAWD it looks enormous! I try makeup (oh and I suck at applying it!!!!) but nothing seems to make me like my nose, should I save money for surgery????

I also hate the lines on my forehead. They make me feel so old, I have the personality of a 21 year old(can't drink that way anymore), I love to laugh and I always notice them right away in photo. Wonder if that is because I am looking for them????? I want to have something done, but I hate spending money for that and then if I do spend the money.............well it may not even work!!!! I don't want to get my hopes up and then nothing........hmmmmmm

Then I started thinking about why women hate themselves. Oh yeah, every celebrity is having things done, so even 70 year olds look younger than me.

Why should I even care? I mean really, I am married (for the the most part happily), I have two amazing wonderful kids, I have no horrible disease. I have medical issues yes but they aren't life threatening.

I just want to be happy with myself. I started lifting weights again this week, tired of the couch potato mentality!!!!

Need to remember this daily!!!!!!
